Devoting too much of my mind to an imagined future leads to anxiety or anger or both.

Devoting too much of my mind to a bygone past leads to resentment or arrogance or both.

My challenge today is to learn the power of the eternal NOW.

Now is all I have. Now is all YOU have.

Now is our only home.

Now is the only time in which we can make a difference.

Now is full of life. Now is full of beauty. Now is where you will find everything you need.

Now is a gift from God, brimming with possibilities.

Now is the perfect time to seek forgiveness.

Now is the perfect time to offer grace.

Now is safe. Now is bold and daring.

Now is a warm blanket. Now is a launching pad.

Now is chockfull… complete… perfect.

When Jesus preached, β€œThe kingdom of God is at hand,” (Mark 1:15, MEV) he was preaching the eternal power of NOW. He was saying, β€œDon’t pin your hopes on pie in the sky by and by. Don’t wait for the right set of circumstances, or the right relationship, or the right political party to be elected to start experiencing the fullness of life. Everything you ever wanted is at hand. Because GOD is at hand!”

That is why I like my dogs so much. They are ninjas of the NOW. They are fully present in every moment… alert to every movement, noise, head tilt, smell, and gesture. They don’t hold grudges. They don’t fret about the future.

Living in the eternal power of NOW doesn’t mean we don’t plan. It doesn’t mean we don’t dream. It doesn’t mean we don’t correct errors, repent for sins, or adjust attitudes.Β

It doesn’t mean we don’t keep working tirelessly for justice.

It just means we recognize the brimful totality of God’s glorious gift of THIS MOMENT and stop pretending there is any other.

Abundant blessings;

Since we humans have the capacity to remember the past and imagine the future (an ability we may sometimes wish we didn’t have), I try to focus on lessons learned in the past, blessings I can praise God for (testimonies), and when thinking about the future, focus on the glorious promises God has made. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

They certainly do add a little extra joy to our lives, don’t they? So sorry to hear about your loss. May you feel God’s comfort and strength in the days ahead.

    YES,THIS!

Your election rant ( much of which I agree with if I want to devote any time to thinking about it; which I don’t) was a downer.

    NOW is better. Thanks.

You are a wiser man than I, Gary. It took me a couple of days, but I finally got to a point where I could step back and look at the bigger picture.

Ah, Russell! The power of NOW! I appreciate your wise words, dear friend. I love embracing the NOW—God’s goodness is all around when we embrace it. And dogs? Absolutely they know the NOW! They make life more fun! Your dog is precious!!
